The wraiths could be anything, and could do anything. Power Joh knew that sleeping was out of the question, but even if it wasn't, he couldn't—the tree that he'd fallen asleep under? It could be a Hell Tree (he'd grown fond of referring to anything he encountered by its name, prefaced with Hell) for all he knew, and he could very well be woken up by said Hell Tree wraith choking him to death.
They could call it the Other Side all they wanted, but it bullshit.
It was creepier when they took the form of his teammates. Creepy and very disappointing. He'd been let down so many times—the hope that someone had come to bail his ass out… only for the teammate to dissolve into a demonic shadow, turn and grin at him with all of its sharp teeth gleaming in the light (despite the noticeable lack of a sun) and give chase.
The biggest mind screw was seeing… Him. McCrane. The damn things read his mind and knew exactly how to freak him out. And they did it multiple times—making him think McCrane was there, showing him visions of McCrane with… with that fucking military nut, of McCrane walking away…
Power Joh had to force himself to think it wasn't true, that McCrane would always be there. In the murky world of nightmares, however, the truth is never so simple.

I'm not happy with it, but it's something for the fill. The next challenge is going to require more thought, so this kinda got slapped together to post before the Internet locks up.
