Can I just take a minute to geek out / cry about Zuko's character arc / glow up?

My favorite character type is definitely "asshole with a heart of gold and underlying trauma" and great goddamn, does Zuko fit that bill! I mean honestly, he was practically just a baby when he lost his mother, the woman who instilled in him the values of kindness and compassion—the values his father loathed, the values that made him speak out to save a troop of new recruits and that caused him to have to face his father in a fight that got half his fucking face burned off. Call me a softy but I look at him and I see a little boy who lost his mother and hurts for it.

ANYWAY. Zuko's character arc is fucking legendary and I wanted to explore the idea that his mother would no doubt approve, a concept that was helped along with the song "Proud of Your Boy" from the Aladdin musical.

Holy. Fucking. Shit. This episode scared the shit out of me. :noes: Y'know how you'll watch a scary movie through your fingers? Yeah, that was me. Just looking up the references for it scare the fuck out of me because (here there be spoilers) it's kinda hard to not be scared shitless watching or thinking about the Devil taking Al's shape and trying to fucking kill Sam. (/spoilers) I can see why so many QL fans think this episode is cursed.

That out of the way… Fluffy happy fill? What the fuck is that? This turned out surprisingly sad. And I finished it surprisingly quickly. I actually like it.

Title: Captured in a Photograph

Fandom / Setting: Quantum Leap – Coda for "Jimmy" (02 x 08)
Characters / Pairings: Al (x) Sam, mentions of Trudy
Rating: K+
Genre: General
Word Count: 590
Warnings / Notes: …Glimpse into big brother Al?; title from NaNoWriMo forums
Summary: It occurred to Al that Sam had never seen a picture of his sister.

Kind of spawned on the fly this morning and I didn’t want to let it go. I couldn’t think of any place to house this scenario, and I wanted it to make sense in the context of the leap. That and this is one of my favorite episodes. (We'll see what happens when I get to MIA and The Leap Home.)

Despite the pairing factor not being obvious, assume Sam x Al is at play in some way here.

Fandom / Setting: Quantum Leap – Coda for "8 ½ Months"
Characters / Pairings: Sam Beckett x Al Calavicci
Genre: General
Rating: T
Word Count: 1463
Warnings / Notes: Genderswap.

I love this episode. Wonderful Sam x Al interactions, a great story—and who can resist a little canon mpreg? 8D

I've wanted to genderswap this scene—strike that, this entire episode—from the start. Of course, it ends up being super sad because my mind canon for female Sam is that she lost the baby she conceived with Al. Denial was something I couldn’t cut out for this scene, so I had to add another layer to it with her not being able to carry a baby to term to begin with. :c

I have one other scene I want to work with, and maybe if I play my cards right, I can pick something a little happier. (I'm sorely tempted to do the scene where Sam is in labor with Billie Jean's baby. It's times like this that I wish Al wasn't a hologram on Sam's leaps because holy Jesus, the visual of Sam grabbing Al's shirtsleeve and practically begging, "Get it out, Al! Get it out!" is too powerful for me to resist.)

Title: Everything But…
Author: TheCrazyAlaskan
Fandom / Setting: The A-Team, TV-verse – Coda for “In Plane Sight” (02x14)
Characters / Pairings: Face, Carrie Hicks
Rating: K+
Genre: General, light angst
Warnings / Notes: Blindness AU
Relevant Quote: A man came to the Prophet and said, 'O Messenger of God! Who among the people is the most worthy of my good companionship? The Prophet said: Your mother.
Summary: The one thing he couldn’t con was the one thing he’d always sort of wanted.

For explanation: I found a prompt on the A-Team kink meme where someone suggested that Face was blinded in an accident, but was still an active, contributing member of the team. I was in love and started playing with it. I admit I still watch episodes of the show and try to reimagine the scene with Face being blind. Anyway…

Should I be embarrassed to admit this scene made me want to cry? It’s just… God in Heaven, someone give Dirk Benedict an Emmy for this moment. It was beautiful. This bunny bit so hard when I watched this episode. The scene in question is pretty much untouched, except for where I reimagined it with the AU.

I admit to listening to “Hey Jude” a fair bit while hammering out getting the scene translated into fic and AU forms. It’s seven minutes long in its purest original recording, half of that being repetition of Na na na na na na na, na na na na, hey Jude but when you’re translating episode to fic, you don’t really notice.

Characters / Pairings: Michael, Kitt Knight
Rating: K+
Genre: General
Warnings / Notes: Brief mentions of PTSD; humanized female KITT
Summary: Sometimes you do need to go for a second time around.

I still have a love affair with “Junk Yard Dog.” I’ve always loved Michael telling KITT about facing his fears after he was reborn, so to speak, and I ended up copying down the speech—for this. I finally got this written.

Also, holy fuck Michael and KITT that can be interpreted as gen. (Still, they’re probably involved at this point in the proceedings but I didn’t make it explicit… *world implodes*)

Rating: K+
Genre: General
Word Count: 418
Warnings / Notes: AU; humanized / genderswapped KITT; coda for “Junk Yard Dog” (SIII, Ep. 14)
Prompt from [livejournal.com profile] locoexclaimer : Quote prompt: “Identity is a fragile and weak thing. It can be stolen or replaced. Even forgotten.” – Anonymous

Write a Day fill.

First off: Holy mother of Jesus watch “Junk Yard Dog.” If you don’t want to hug KITT by the end of it, you’re a soulless prick. Let’s just leave it at he went under begging Michael to save him.

Written in line with the Alpha Delta (or KIAD) AU wherein Kitt is the human the Foundation saved, and Michael is a sentient Trans AM. It’s great fun to play with, different dynamics and such. In this, Kitt’s fiancé was doing some shady dealings in addition to being a police lieutenant, and he arranged to have her killed when she found out, which is what she’s referring to in this passage. A lot of her motivations up to this point would have been trying to put her former self to rest if she can ever really move on. (I should rewrite Michael’s speech from earlier in the episode for her…)

Moving on. Despite the quote being sort of sad, I wanted to put a somewhat pleasant spin on this. Canon!Michael wasn’t cooperating so I had to fall back on this.

Title: Not in Words, But in Deeds
Author: TheCrazyAlaskan
Fandom / Setting: Classic Knight Rider, coda for “Soul Survivor” (2x09)
Characters / Pairings: Devon Miles, Michael Knight, KITT
Rating: T
Genre: General, angst
Relevant Quote: When truth cannot make itself known in words, it will make itself known in deeds. – Roger Scruton
Warnings / Notes: Prompt from [livejournal.com profile] locoexclaimer : Knight Rider, any character except Michael or KITT, canon only. Prompt: Revelations
Summary: There was no big moment that said it; rather, one incident, and several little moments that followed.

Day… Six of the Write-a-Day Challenge

Ooh, “Soul Survivor.” Mmm, one of the most beautiful, emotionally charged episodes in the entirety of the Knight Rider canon. Michael and KITT are fantastic in this episode.

…Okay the prompt said not Michael and KITT, not that they couldn’t be a part of it. >>; The revelation is subtle, which I prefer—I stand by the Word of God from David Hasslehoff where he said, “Michael was too much of a guy to let his feelings show.” In this case, they come through, and sort of reveal the way he’s come to think of KITT piece by piece.

Overall, I’m pretty pleased. Now, to wait for the next prompt. *srsnod*

I love Red Alert. Go ahead, tell me that he’s out of character because I didn’t write him a wibbling, paranoid train wreck. I dare you. c:

I guess what Power Joh is saying is, "We're all a little mad." )

~*~*~*~

So yeah, McCrane x Power Joh. They balance each other very nicely—Power Joh is action and energy, and McCrane is calm and collected. I would also like to point out that in episode 5, it’s canon-established that McCrane is a pacifist—in spite of the fact that he’s always carrying a gun, he never uses it unless it’s a last resort. When Power Joh is being attacked by the Gawan (AKA the Monster of the Week), McCrane didn’t even hesitate—he just pulled out the gun and started shooting! xD
For those of you who are asking yourself, “What about Seia?”: He never acted interested in her. Sorry. :/

Setting is after episode 17, “Inti the Evil Spirit.” Inti was a South American demon housed in an artifact that was touring Japan at the time. Inti fed off people’s greed and desires, often destroying entire civilizations in this manner; the incident to which Power Joh refers was when McCrane was under Inti’s control, he went out on a shooting spree to purge evil from Tokyo. Yes, he did go ape shit; no, no one was hurt, except maybe McCrane’s pacifist nature—he kinda scared the crap out of himself after he found out what he did.
