And they called this a trial. It wasn’t a trial—it was a fucking joke. He wasn’t even given a defense—just a bunch of slaggers all coming forward with evidence that proved he was a Destron sympathizer. All of it fake or circumstantial—mostly fake, not that he could say that. The accused weren’t allowed to speak in their own defense.

Will anyone speak in this mech’s defense?

He lifted his head, glanced around. Sprinkled in the crowd were people he knew—Academy mates, friends, his family. Surely even one of them would speak in his defense—stand and say he was loyal to his people and all for which they stood.

No one stood for him. The silence was brutal, cancerous. No one cared about the fate of a Destron sympathizer.
