Welcome - Board House, Fluttershy + mirror universe KARR

It was a large, lovely building, well kept and safe with a wonderfully kind proprietor, but far from Equestria. Maybe that's what bothered Fluttershy the most—that, and aside from her friends, she knew no one here, and what an odd assortment they were. Humans mostly, with enough metal human-like beings to make her jumpier than normal.

Fluttershy wandered into a small, out of the way room. She had tried the lounge, honest, but… it was just too crowded. This room was some kind of a lounge, with comfortable looking couches and a few chairs and tables, and looked fairly unoccupied, save for one human, male, dressed in black and grey. His hair was dark, and he looked oblivious to the world, his head bent over a book.

The door behind Flutterhsy closed itself, and the Pegasus jumped with a frightened squeak. The human looked up from his book at both sounds. "Hello," he greeted with a friendly smile.

"H-Hello," Fluttershy squeaked, standing a little straighter. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to disturb you…" She started to back out of the door.

"N-No, it's alright," he said, reaching a hand out to her. God, and he thought he was skittish around strangers. "You're new here, aren't you?"

Fluttershy nodded, coming a little closer. He was nice at least.

"My name is KARR," he introduced. She was standing in front of him now, and he could see her a little more clearly. She had lovely teal colored eyes, and three small pink butterflies on her flank. Somehow, KARR got the feeling the mark suited her. "What's your name?"

She mumbled softly, making the words impossible for KARR to catch. "Sorry, I didn't catch that?" he asked, leaning a little closer.

Then, very faint: "Fluttershy…"

"It's a pleasure to meet you Fluttershy," KARR replied sincerely, offering her his hand, palm down, in lieu of the handshake he would have offered a humanoid.

A small smile touched Flutterhy's face, and she nuzzled his hand. Wait. That smell on his hand… Her eyes trailed down slightly, and she saw a small black kitten sitting by KARR's leg. "You have a kitten!" she said, a little awestruck.

KARR smiled and closed his book, gently picking up the kitten to show her. "He's my baby," he said affectionately. "His name is Xiang."

"That's such a pretty name," Fluttershy complimented.

"It means lucky," KARR explained. "A friend of mine rescued him and gave him to me."

"That's very nice," the pony commented.

KARR smiled and set Xiang on the floor. "You can play with him if you like," he offered. "He doesn't have claws; he won't scratch."

Fluttershy smiled warmly and laid down on the floor, playing with the purring black furball. Maybe this place wouldn't be so bad after all.
