Okay, bear with me. There’s a lovely fan fiction on DeviantArt (Part One is here) that explores the idea of FiM Rainbow Dash being female to male (FTM) transgendered. The idea sort of stuck in my mind and now I can’t unsee it and it’s in my mind canon and I love it.

I listened to both versions of “Reflection” while writing this, which explains a lot of the sad tone. When you listen to it as if from Dash’s point of view, not recognizing his own (female) reflection, it’s a really depressing song.
